Robert Umpleby has a keen sense of humour. "I'm six three and brilliant," he
says. The second part is true. The first, well give or take nine inches!
And speaking of giving, that's what he does - helping entrepreneurs become
successful and charging them based on their level of success.
He gives and he takes, all the while empowering the entrepreneurs, helping
them find their calling and pushing the envelope of creativity.
Umpleby had worked for over two decades in blue chip majors in the UK, until
frustration forced him to make a life-changing decision. "At 45 I had made up my mind.
I just had to go it alone. I was apprehensive, I had belief in myself but years
of corporate slavery had taken its toll. My confidence had been dented and was
nowhere near where it was when I started working for my first corporate in the
late 70's. Over twenty years of success, but very little to show for it.( OK I
had got a house in the UK and one in France and was happily married with three
fantastic children but I didn't feel I had made it…financially!)"
Umpleby had on three separate occasions doubled the sales and profits of
divisions within companies that he worked for, by utilizing his knowledge of
psychology, marketing and statistics. Yet, there was a gnawing sense of
frustration. For the big decisions were ultimately taken by the management, not
him.
In September 2002, Umpleby asked himself, " What do I really, really want to
do? I remembered reading somewhere that if you want to be rich and happy. do
what you are really passionate about and someone will pay you good money for it.
Well what I found was I was really passionate about was growing businesses and
helping people grow."
His education and experience, his fascination with NLP, his sports coaching
stints, his track record of improving businesses via a mixture of understanding
the human mind and applying proven marketing strategies and his getting to know systematic ways of improving businesses, helped
him decide.
He now asks difficult questions of business of business owners and provides
them with all the help and support to help them double their sales and profits
provided that's what they really, really want! That means if Robert doesn't
make the client successful then Robert doesn't reap the big rewards.
Umpleby started' on his own' in January 2003 and learnt how to
"Unleash the Entrepreneur within me". By May 2003 he was working with four
clients - His clients have been sucessful; one was featured in the Sunday Times and on Radio Five live and
another on the BBC Money Programme.
Over the past five years Umpleby has not only helped many businesses grow dramatically by working alongside them on a regular basis he has also trained countless more individual business owners in a dynamic "workshop environment". This combination has resulted in the development and refinement of the ground breaking Systematic Profits Workshop.
